When to engage Arcerno
Sometimes the challenge is knowing where to focus. Sometimes the strategy is sound, but results are not following. Arcerno helps leadership teams establish what needs to change and how to move forward.
You need an independent assessment of the opportunity, market priorities or assumptions behind your commercial strategy.
Pipeline quality, forecasting or conversion is not where it needs to be, and the underlying causes are unclear.
Expansion, investment or organizational change calls for a different approach to markets, teams and execution.
Management needs to translate investor expectations into realistic plans, clear accountability and credible reporting.
What we do
Arcerno works with CEOs, leadership teams and investors to address the commercial challenges that affect growth, profitability and the ability to execute.
Identify where to compete, which customers to prioritize and how to win. From market expansion and positioning to customer segmentation, pricing and strategic account development.
Understand why performance is falling short and what needs to change. Address sales effectiveness, pipeline quality, customer concentration, account coverage and the management practices that influence results.
Build the commercial structure needed to deliver the growth plan. Sales and marketing alignment, organizational design, incentive plans, revenue operations, forecasting and commercial technology.
Provide an independent view of commercial strategy, organizational capabilities and growth assumptions. Help investors and management teams identify risks, prioritize improvements and turn investment objectives into practical action.

Commercial challenges call for more than a new plan. These examples reflect hands-on responsibility for changing how businesses sell, operate and grow.

How we work
Some businesses need an independent assessment. Others need someone who can work alongside leadership to implement change. Arcerno offers both, with engagements built around the needs of the business.
An objective review of a specific commercial challenge or the broader organization. Identify what is working, what is not and where management should focus. The outcome is a clear set of findings, recommendations and priorities.
Work directly with the leadership team to design and implement change. From restructuring the commercial organization to introducing new processes, systems or go-to-market approaches, with a focus on making the changes work in practice.
Independent commercial advice for CEOs, investors and boards as challenges and opportunities arise. A continuing relationship that provides experienced judgment without adding a permanent executive position.
Investor and board advisory
A commercial perspective informed by the experience of building businesses.
Andrew Mills has worked with private equity and venture capital firms for more than 20 years, including alongside leadership teams responsible for delivering the growth plans investors expect.
He has contributed to raising approximately $20 million in capital across BioStorage Technologies, Lokavant and Scubaba and helped establish three businesses. As one of the founders of BioStorage Technologies, he developed and executed its go-to-market strategy, contributing to commercial growth before the business was acquired by Brooks Automation in 2015.
Arcerno helps investors and boards assess commercial plans and execution risks. For management teams, we help clarify what the board is looking for, translate those expectations into operational priorities and communicate results, risks and investment requirements more effectively.
About the principal
Andrew (AJ) Mills brings more than 20 years of commercial leadership experience across life sciences, healthcare technology and technology-enabled services. His background includes commercial leadership at publicly traded ICON, alongside senior roles in investor-backed businesses. Across his career, he has led sizable international sales and marketing organizations with responsibility for commercial strategy, growth targets and execution.
As one of the founders of BioStorage Technologies, Andrew developed and executed the company's go-to-market strategy, contributing to its growth ahead of its acquisition by Brooks Automation in 2015 for $127 million.
His experience spans North and South America, Europe and Asia, including entering new markets, establishing local operations and leading commercial teams across borders. Through Arcerno, he brings that international perspective, along with expertise in go-to-market strategy, revenue operations, commercial transformation and fundraising support, to businesses seeking clear thinking and practical help with the decisions that shape growth.
The thinking behind the name
Pronounced ar-SER-no. We thought we’d save everyone the guesswork.
A trajectory, direction or path forward.
Latin: I discern, distinguish, or make a judgment.
Direction matters. So does knowing which direction to take.
Arcerno brings together two ideas: arc, suggesting a trajectory or path forward, and cerno, Latin for “I discern, distinguish, or make a judgment.”
The distinction is intentional. Commercial growth takes more than ambition and activity. It requires the judgment to distinguish worthwhile opportunities from distractions, make informed choices and execute with discipline.
That is the thinking behind Arcerno: helping businesses determine where to focus, decide how to move forward and turn those decisions into action.
